Anatopik takes you on a journey to faraway countries.
Passing through Japan, China or Mongolia, embark with us for Asia through the Dragon, Sakura, Zen, Kitsune, Asia or Mongolia motifs.
Inspired by Asia for a long time, I have always enjoyed integrating into my collections a pattern with Japanese graphics or a pattern telling a tale from their culture. I had the chance to go to Japan for 3 weeks in 2005 and I brought back with me old engravings and drawing books that still inspire me. The illustrators with whom I had the chance to collaborate managed to transcribe in their graphic interpretation the subtlety of this distant culture.
DRAGON by Yunco - Fall Winter 2020 Collection
Yunco revisits its Dragon pattern. The emblematic animal, symbol of strength and power, is adorned this season with golden hues. Red, pink and white flowers adorn the pattern with touches of color while fireworks infuse it with a festive and magical spirit. With this Dragon pattern, dress yourself in energy!
This motif reminds me of the Lantern Festival "Loi Kratong" which is celebrated every year throughout Thailand. It takes place on the full moon of the 12th month of the traditional lunar Thai calendar; in the Western calendar, this usually occurs in November.
SAKURA by Anna Ziliz - Reissue Fall Winter 2020
This pattern is an explosion of colors, it transports us alongside a delicate geisha, bathing in the shade of a cherry tree in bloom. This tree, called Sakura in Japan, is a symbol of ephemeral beauty.
Visiting Japan during cherry blossom season is an unforgettable experience. Hanami (花見) means “flower viewing” and more specifically, cherry blossoms called Sakura.
ZEN by Yunco - Fall Winter 2019 Collection
Yunco takes us to the land of the rising sun with its revisitation of the ZEN motif. In the light of the setting sun, cranes and dragonflies enjoy the calm of a body of water to appreciate the tranquility of the place. A very gentle theme that invites you to dream and escape. Take the time to sit down and admire nature waking up.
In the first version of the motif, we see bulls, which are Japanese lanterns, they are a characteristic element of Japanese gardens. Since Japanese gardens are considered a place of Buddhist worship, each element placed in these places thus aims to honor and serve, as an offering to the god Buddha. Lanterns are obviously part of this.
KITSUNE by Anna Ziliz - Old collection
Anna ZILIZ was inspired by Japanese legends to deliver this pattern in green, red and gold tones. Our heroine, half-woman, half-fox, evolves in an enchanting landscape. Will she find love despite her true appearance?
The term kitsune (狐orきつね) literally means fox. It is a Yokai , a magical spirit with powerful powers. The kitsune is also a polymorphic creature, having the ability to change shape and often taking on a human appearance. In Japanese folklore, the kitsune, when considered benevolent, is often associated with the rice deity Inari . It then plays the role of messenger, servant and can also bring luck with it. Children like to dress up as Kitsune.
ASIA by Yunco - Old collection
Yunco tries here a patch mixing hand-painted paintings and photos of wood textures. You will recognize different elements characteristic of traditional China such as peonies, slippers, lanterns and porcelain.
For China, its country of origin, the peony is considered a flower of power, bringing together feminine beauty, generosity and success. However, it is also a symbol of shame and jealousy. The color of the peony is also important.
MONGOLIA by Peggy Nille - Old collection
The illustrator takes us on a journey to Mongolia, to the Kazakhs , daughters of the Golden Eagle of Altai. Let's discover a minority with an ancient culture and ancestral traditions. Inspired by local crafts, the arabesques are an explosion of shimmering colors.
In the far west of Mongolia, in the harsh Altai region, the Kazakhs maintain a thousand-year-old alliance with the king of birds: the golden eagle lends them its exceptional hunting talents in exchange for good care.
